Sign in asks for the email and password on the account. If they are wrong, the screen says the email or password is incorrect. Too many attempts asks you to wait 15 minutes. Forgot your password? asks for your email and the button is Email me a reset link. The sent screen says that if an account exists, a link is on the way. It does not reveal whether the account exists.
Where to go
Sign in is /login. A wrong password says the email or password is incorrect. Too many attempts asks you to wait 15 minutes. Forgot your password? does not say whether the email is registered. The sent screen says a link is on the way if an account exists.
What to do
- Open Sign in.
- If you forgot the password, open Forgot your password? and choose Email me a reset link.
- Use the link or choose I have a reset code.
- Return to Sign in with the new password.
What you should see
Settings is titled Settings and described as your profile, security, and data. Sections include Profile & preferences, Verification, Where you’re signed in, Your data, and Close my account. Language in the header matches the account language control.
What this does not mean
- A reset message that asks you to send the code back to a person is not this flow.
- Google or another provider, when shown, does not merge accounts by assumption. Follow the linking instructions on the screen.
- Support cannot read your password.
