Not by editing the free-help request into a bill. The product rejects a budget, a deposit, and a paid counteroffer on free help. If both people want a paid job, create a new request or a listing and send a priced offer on that record. Keep the free-help thread as history, not as the invoice.
Where to go
The product rejects a budget, a deposit, and a paid counteroffer on free help. Post a separate request or use a priced listing, then Send an offer on that record.
What to do
- Say in the thread that you want to switch to paid work.
- Post a new request or use a listing with a price.
- Send an offer on the new record.
- Leave the free-help request without a price.
What you should see
The request page shows Send an offer for free help only when offer help is available. You fill Confirmed scope and deliverables and an optional Message. The form says sending an offer does not charge you. Post request does not create this arrangement. A priced Send an offer is a different action, submit proposal, and it is hidden on free help.
What this does not mean
- A chat price does not convert the arrangement.
- Payments are not open, so the new offer still is not a card charge.
- Do not ask for a deposit to “hold” free help.
