Close a free-help request with the owner controls on that request. Withdraw offer if you sent interest and need to take it back. Closing the request does not by itself notify every person in the way a phone call would, so write in the thread if someone was in the middle of replying. Closing is not a rating event and not a payment event.
Where to go
Close or pause from the owner controls on the request. Withdraw offer if you had sent interest. Archiving the thread does not close the request.
What to do
- Open the request you posted.
- Use the close or owner control it shows.
- If you sent an offer, choose Withdraw offer.
- Tell anyone you were actively talking with.
What you should see
The request page shows Send an offer for free help only when offer help is available. You fill Confirmed scope and deliverables and an optional Message. The form says sending an offer does not charge you. Post request does not create this arrangement. A priced Send an offer is a different action, submit proposal, and it is hidden on free help.
What this does not mean
- Closing does not assign a remaining helper.
- It does not create a paid balance.
- Archiving the message thread is not the same as closing the request.
