Capture is the step that completes a card charge after authorization. It is still not a payout to a bank, and it is not earnings until the product’s own records say so. Live capture is not open. A captured charge, when the product later shows one, stays a platform charge until a separate transfer and a separate payout exist.
Where to go
Capture, when a payment row exists later, is not a payout and not Stripe reports paid. Nothing in the current product captures a card for a deal.
What to do
- Read the deal status rather than a chat message about being paid.
- Keep authorization, capture, transfer, and payout as four words.
- If you do not see a deal you recognize, use Contact and include the date and the amount you saw at your bank, not the full card number.
- Providers: a capture line is not Stripe reports paid.
What you should see
When a payout row exists, the labels are Submitted to the payment partner, Waiting to be sent to your bank, Sent toward your bank, not confirmed, Stripe reports paid, Not paid — the bank payout failed, Canceled before it was paid, Held, and Under review. Waiting and in transit are not paid. Stripe reports paid still tells you to confirm with your bank, because a later return can change it. No payout row is expected while payouts are not open.
What this does not mean
- Capture does not mean the bank deposit succeeded.
- You cannot request a live capture while payments are held.
- Do not pay the same job off-platform because capture is confusing.
