Fees, when a deal asks you to confirm, are the amounts on that screen. Hire a Neighbor does not publish a percentage rate on this page. Planned numbers in old drafts are not a live price. Card payments are not open, so you should not be paying a platform fee today. Read the total the deal shows before you confirm anything, once payments exist.
Where to go
The number to read is the total on the offer or the deal. Old drafts that printed a platform percentage are not this page. /help/fees redirects here to the explanation that payments are not open.
What to do
- Use the total on the deal or the offer as the number to read.
- Ignore a message that quotes a platform percentage.
- Open Why are financial features unavailable? for the current gate.
- Ask in the thread if the offer’s own price is unclear. That price is the participants’ price, not a hidden platform rate.
What you should see
When a payout row exists, the labels are Submitted to the payment partner, Waiting to be sent to your bank, Sent toward your bank, not confirmed, Stripe reports paid, Not paid — the bank payout failed, Canceled before it was paid, Held, and Under review. Waiting and in transit are not paid. Stripe reports paid still tells you to confirm with your bank, because a later return can change it. No payout row is expected while payouts are not open.
What this does not mean
- This article does not set a fee.
- A listing price is not a fee receipt.
- Do not pay a “fee” to a person who messages you off the deal screen.
